The Client

With a population of almost 18 million, Minas Gerais is Brazil’s second most populated state. Minas Gerais state government, is responsible for collecting, inspecting, accounting for, and structuring the state’s income and expenditures, as well as controlling funds and credit operations.

The Challenge

As part of a federal government modernization initiative, Minas Gerais wanted to increase the state’s income to a level proportional to its overall economy. To achieve this goal, the state’s Treasury Office, also known as Secretaria de Estado de Fazenda de Minas Gerais (SEF-MG), needed to modify and adjust its institutional and operational structures to become a more efficient organization. Minas Gerais asked BearingPoint for help in implementing data warehouse technology to improve processes and enhance knowledge management.

The Solution

BearingPoint’s engagement team used its Methodology for an Integrated Knowledge Environment (also known as MIKE) to build the data warehouse. Our team worked in consortium with Commit Consultores, an Oracle Advanced Partner, to build the best solution for SEF-MG. The project, which took about 18 months, included project planning, requirements analysis, continuous technology transference, system design and modification, training, testing, user acceptance, and implementation.
