BearingPoint Paves the Way for MDOT

The Client

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed and maintained in an effective, cost efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner. MDOT consists of experienced professionals who constantly explore better and more economical ways to improve transportation and to safeguard life and property.

The Challenge

A batch system with no on-line capabilities was leaving MDOT out in the cold as far as information retrieval. The best information turnaround was about six weeks. BearingPoint was chosen to assist MDOT with improving their client/server product.

The Solution

Working side-by-side, MDOT and BearingPoint committed themselves to cooperating on all levels on a large system implementation process. The project team from BearingPoint worked closely to ensure strong support and the ability to work through many issues in order to achieve ultimate project goals.
MDOT and BearingPoint implemented the complete new Performance Series 2.0 package.

The Benefits

MDOT now has one of the largest Performance Series installations with over 5 million records in the database compared to the average of 50,000. MDOT expertly uses the various modules within the series including accounting, purchasing, inventory, budgeting, cost allocation and labor distribution. "The most tangible benefit of the Performance Series," according to MDOT’s Technology consultant Rich O’Regan, "is that the information we have is accurate and timely."
