N24 is a 24-hour news channel and belongs to the ProSiebenSat.1 group, one of Germany’s largest TV-networks.

The Challenge

N24 reports around the clock on current developments in Germany, Europe and worldwide. In order to keep the viewers up to date the editorial staff has to procure material and services on short notice. Therefore, N24 needed a system to allow for the busy daily life in the editorial department and to guarantee an accurate processing of accounting.

The Solution

The project team developed an intranet based production management program (PMP) based on the SAP Web Application Server to cover all functionalities of the existing system, to correct deficiencies, and to provide additional features. The N24 product management program covers a variety of complex business processes, e.g. processing of orders and master data (supplier, materials, information records for purchasing, internal orders) as well as reporting.

The Benefits

This solution was developed based on the SAP Web Application Server in order to provide scalability as well as complete functional and technical integration into the existing SAP system landscape of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG. SAP R/3 remains therefore the leading system and guarantees a maximum of system reliability and transaction security using the existing SAP authority concept. The consistent alignment of the solution towards the intranet provides an intuitive and release independent GUI for all users.
