Package Implementation: PeopleSoft Human Resources, Student Administration, and Financial Systems

The Client

The University of Missouri, founded in 1839, was the first institution of higher learning west of the Mississippi. Today, the university system includes four campuses, a hospital, and extension offices.

The Challenge

During an Information Systems (IS) review, the University of Missouri determined that their 1970s technology was no longer viable. Student administrative systems were obsolete. Human resources and financial administrative systems were not integrated. The university purchased PeopleSoft client/server software to replace and integrate its student information, HR, and financial systems. This university-wide implementation had four objectives:

• Process change
• Policy change
• Organizational structure change
• Technology change

After purchasing PeopleSoft, the University of Missouri selected BearingPoint as their implementation partner. In addition to our higher education expertise, we offered the product, technical, and project management experience the university needed.

The Solution

BearingPoint went to the University of Missouri with a complete team for every aspect of the PeopleSoft implementation. Currently in the initial stage of this multiphase project, we are helping the university:

• Formulate an implementation plan for the next three to four years.
• Develop the scope, objectives, critical success factors, implementation guidelines, and project standards to ensure success.
• Assess their current technical environment, including hardware, software, and user support.
• Define their desired future state and the steps needed to get there.

Our approach integrates process redesign and technology implementation.
